Hi! from Tania
I'm happy to say this month is party time for us, and particularly the next few days.
Today's my son Jake's 6th birthday, we're celebrating our chief babysitter Jared's 21st tomorrow and Tuesday's my birthday. I'm very glad we decided to outsource Jake's party to Wacky Warehouse this year, so I'm expecting a cruisey weekend. I'll try not to eat too much cake!
Jake's currently completely obsessed with Michael Jackson (he wants to be Michael Jackson when he grows up - uh, oh), so to celebrate that thought, I've bought us tickets to see Michael Jackson HIStory 11 in September. How's that for timing! In the meantime, I'm sure he'll be happy dancing around the house to Michael's music wearing his new Michael Jackson (official merchandise) sequin glove and leggings set.
And I'm excited to say I picked out my office fireplace this week. I can't wait for it to be installed.
Must go and whip up the chocolate mousse cake (from Masterchef) for our little family celebration tonight. I'm topping it with customised Michael Jackson icing too, which looks absolutely amazing, made up by Bec at www.customicing.com.au. Yum.

Feature: 10 Ways to Recharge Your Marriage
This exercise, from John Gottman and Nan Silver's book The seven princples for making marriage work will bring you face-to-face, once again, with the early years of your relationship, and help you remember how and why you became a couple.
You will need a few hours of uninterrupted time to complete this exercise. There are no right or wrong answers to these questions - they are merely meant to guide you in recalling the love and perspective on marriage that led you to join your lives in the first place.
Discuss how the two of you met and got together. Was there anything about your spouse that made him or her stand out? What were your first impressions of each other?
What do you remember most about the time you were first dating? What stands out? How long did you know each other before you got married? What do you remember about this period? What were some of the highlights? Some of the tensions? What types of things did you do together?
Talk about how you decided to get married: Of all the people in the world, what led you to decide that this was the person you wanted to marry? Was it a difficult decision? Were you in love? Talk about this time.
Do you remember your wedding?: Talk to each other about your memories. Did you have a honeymoon? What do you remember about it?
What do you remember about the first year you were married?: Were there any adjustments you needed to make?
What about the transition to becoming parents?: Talk to each other about this period of your marriage. What was it like for the two of you?
Looking back over the years, what moments stand out as the really happy times in your marriage?: What is a good time for you as a couple? Has this changed over the years?
Many relationships go through periods of ups and downs. Would you say that this is true of your marriage? Can you describe some of these difficult times?
Looking back over the years, what moments stand out as the really hard times in your marriage?: Why do you think you stayed together? How did you get through these difficult times?
Have you stopped doing things together that once gave you pleasure?: Explore these with one another.
Many couples find that recalling their past together recharges their relationship in the here and now. Answering these questions often reminds couples of the love and great expectations that inspired their decision to marry in the first place.

Next Month: 10 Ways to Make New Friends
Next month's tips topic was suggested by one of my readers, Rebecca.
As we get older, life starts to change. We might move house, or move to another country, have children and perhaps less opportunity to go out, change jobs, end marriages, or simply change our priorities. As a result, some friendships might be harder to maintain, or we can lose touch with old friends.
So, how (apart from the obvious - be friendly!) do we make new friends? And, I mean, with people we really like?
Next month we'll explore this topic. I have a few ideas in mind - but would love to hear yours - so please send them in!
